Have you ever been interpreting for a consumer that frequently uses words that sound the same but have different meanings? Like fair, fair, and fair or their, there, they’re? Homonyms are words that sound alike but have different meanings. This workshop will analyze the various homonyms and examine how to know which meaning is intended in the moment. In this WebShop we will brainstorm used in everyday conversations and practice processing them from their English meaning and conceptualizing them into ASL.

Educational Objectives:

• Participants will enhance their understanding from a variety of homonyms for a more appropriate interpretation of true meaning of homonyms.

• Participants will review and agree from the chart of homonyms provided the importance of developing a list of common homonyms.

• Participants will increase their knowledge and the importance of developing an in-depth list of homonyms as a predictive measure for a more effective rendering of the message.
