This workshop will share an Outline for legal interpreting that touches on a variety of different aspects of interpreting “Legal Language” in the Deaf community, in the courts, jails, probation, parole, and various law enforcement sectors.

Educational Objectives:

Participant will be able to distinguish and identify each legal setting for the purpose of recognizing the protocols and procedures of each legal situation for the purpose of effective communication.
Participant will be able to identify and interpret at least five legal terms that are required during the arrest process and the Miranda warning.
Participant will be able to identify the at least eight of the ten possible stages of a court arraignment with a “Not Guilty” plea and is later found “Guilty”.
Participant will be able to identify and recollect the main differences, rules and regulations between being on probation or/and parole.
