This workshop’s focus is on a variety of Synonyms. Have you ever been interpreting for a person who frequently uses the same words or signs repeatedly? This training will describe sets of words that have the same meaning to expand your vocabulary signing and speaking options. A synonym is a word, morpheme, or phrase that sometimes means exactly or virtually is identical to another word, morpheme, or phrase in the same language. For example, the word synonymous also means, identical equal tantamount, matching, alike, etc. All synonyms words that mean the same thing, are synonymous. This training will improve your English skills both signing and speaking and will enhance your ability to transform English into ASL, conceptually and visually.

Educational Objectives:

• Participants will be able to increase their knowledge regarding the most appropriate application of synonymous words in their context or setting.

• Participants will review a list of synonyms, nouns, verbs, and adjectives for a better understanding of their grammatical application.

• Participants will be able to increase their understanding of the value of developing an in depth, professional accounting of synonymous words in an accessible list on their cell phones or in a journal to have while interpreting.
