This workshop will employ techniques to advance the participates interpreting skills and knowledge base though the use of a system designed to illustrate, visually how to transition smoothly, seamlessly, and skillfully from English into fluent ASL expressively. Participants will learn the steps that must be observed to and applied for effective communication. To learn these steps we will practice with storytelling that will strengthen the participants transforming skills. ASL being a visual, English must therefore be taken from its natural sequence and transformed into visual concepts that will allow for efficient matching of ASL signing concepts.

Educational Objectives:

• Participants will be able to identify and determine which English words are not necessary in the ASL translation. For example, a, the, is, etc.

• Participants will categorize and gloss the necessary remaining words to be conceptualized and interpreted effectively.

• Participants will be able to demonstrate how to transform and translate ASL gloss into visualized communication.
