This workshop will exhibit the ASL classifiers into one of the eight morphological types in their specific categories. This training will illustrate how, where and when classifiers need to be inserted for the purpose of creating visual clarity in a ‘picture’ like format easily recognized by Deaf consumers. In addition, interpreters will be able to effectively assess and interpret from ASL into English when the Deaf consumer expresses his/her communication using classifiers.
Educational Objectives:
• Participants will be able to apply and demonstrate in ASL examples of how and where classifiers hold objects in time and space using people, places and things.
• Participants will be able to memorize and name the eight horological types of classifiers using an acronym, TELPBSBS.
• Participants will be able to achieve and perform demonstrate visual communication manually showing shapes, sizes for example, round, flat, thick or thin shapes using ASL classifiers.
