This workshop will instruct participants, how to remain calm and focused in order to predict when fingerspelled words are forthcoming. They will be shown a methodical approach, to analyzing vocabulary words. By breaking down each word into its major parts and reassembling those words back again, for a fluent verbal flow. Instructor will demonstrate how to recognize word patterns, in order to improve the participants’ current ability to receptively recognize fingerspelled words, within the framework of any sign language discourse. Participants will also learn how to apply a specific system of techniques to help them distinguish fingerspelled words within sentences based on the full the meaning of content and context before and after finger spelled word(s) to determine what words will be most likely accurate, predictably.  

Educational Objectives:

Participants when called upon, will identify the different parts of a finger spelled work, the beginning, the middle, the ending.
Participants when called upon will analyze the context and background of a sentence or statement.  
Participants will identify with accuracy finger spelled words by using a fingerspelling video tape that contains beginner, intermediate and advanced fingerspelled words.
Participants will demonstrate their ability to recognize finger spelled words in the context of a sentence by writing down as many fingerspelled they can.
Participants will analyze and identify finger spelled words on video clips by a variety of different deaf persons.
